2012 Average Currency Exchange Rates for Income Tax (CRA) conversion purposes

These are the average currency exchange rates for 2012, from the Bank of Canada website here. The CRA website, here, guides us to the Bank of Canada for average exchange rates.
These are unofficial rates, as copied by me by hand from the PDF files on the Bank of Canada website.
These are the average rates that you might use for converting how much you've made, in Canadian dollar terms, when filling out your personal tax return due in in 2013, but for the 2012 year of earnings.

In other words, each Vietnamese dong was worth, on average in 2012, CAD$0.000048. Each CAD$ was worth 20833 Vietnamese dong, on average, in 2012.

Each US$ was worth, on average in 2012, CAD$0.99958008. Each CAD$ was worth US$1.000420096, on average, in 2012.

In other words, unless you're working with A LOT of US$, there won't be much of a difference when you're converting.

For the 2012 year, on average, each CAD$ was worth slightly more than a US dollar, so if you're reporting US$500 in earnings, you should be recording ever so slightly less than $500 in Canadian dollar terms.

Micro lending alive and well in Canada

Hi Dan,

Commenting on your most recent blog post is the only way I could think to get ahold of you! I notice your interest in micro lending. Please email me so I can tell you about community micro lending here in Victoria B.C.
